That is, simethicone converts small air bubbles in the gut into larger air bubbles, which are easier for the baby to expel. Besides its proven efficacy in infantile colic, it is also an extremely useful remedy in conditions in which the accumulated air/gas in the gastro intestinal tract causes problem e.g. aerophagia (excessive air swallowing) and regurgitation. Functional dyspepsia (indigestion) and gaseous distension causing griping pain. The most important aspect of simethicone is that it has no sedative affect.
